The Clearview property was purchased in 1987 and Clearview Estate Winery ltd was established, with the first red wine from the vintage of 1989. This historic property was first planted in grapes by Anthony Joseph Vidal as ‘Vidals No 2’, in 1916. He also planted the olive tree, now about 90 years old, which features in the ‘old olive block’ vineyard.
Clearview was one of the first restaurants in a vineyard/winery location in New Zealand and is about 20 minutes drive from both Hastings and Napier in the Hawke’ Bay.

CLEARVIEW – Reserve Chardonnay
This wine has aromas of citrus, brioche and hazelnut. The palate is richly textured with flavours of citrus, nectarine and spicy, toasty oak. This is an elegant yet powerful wine that suits a wide range of richly flavoured foods.
CLEARVIEW – Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
This wine exhibits ripe tropical aromas of passion fruit and pineapple with flavours of crisp apples and hints of oak. The palate is concentrated with generous body but tightly structured with acidity. This is a very food-friendly wine which goes well with scallops or crayfish.
